Bio available

Oakville born and raised, Cathy Duddeck has lived in the area she represents, Ward 2, for over 50 years.

Cathy and her husband Bernd, have raised their 2 children, Tara and David, at the home she grew up in as a child. She and her husband are now the proud grandparents of 8 grandchildren.

Cathy has followed the example her mother provided by volunteering within Oakville from an early age. As a teenager she participated in the “After Four” program that worked with school aged children who needed mentoring and activities after school and prior to their parents returning home from work. She also helped out with the Parks and Recreation day camp program.

For the past 50 years she has been an active congregational member of St. Paul’s United Church – serving as a leader for the C.G.I.T., Vacation Bible school organizer, Sunday School teacher, Christian Education Chair, Halton Presbytery representative, choir member, Chair of Ministry and Personnel and Chair of the Unified Board.

In addition to her church involvement Cathy was involved in her children’s respective schools ; Pinegrove, Brookdale, T.A. Blakelock and Appleby College. She also found time to volunteer as a young mother with the local Canadian Red Cross branch through the “Creations Program”.

She and her family have enjoyed fostering 7 puppies for the Lion’s Foundation of Canada (Dog Guides) and as result of that involvement she became a charter member of the Halton K 9 Lions Club for Oakville. She volunteered for several years on the Oakville Waterfront Festival Board and currently serves on the Oakville Santa Claus Parade Committee and Oakville’s annual Terry Fox Run.

Through her involvement of both church and the community she was invited to serve on the Salvation Army Community Council. The Council met on a regular basis to share information and support addressing food, shelter, and housing within the community.

In addition to her council related duties she continues to help canvas for local organizations; United Way, Arthritis Society, Salvation Army, etc. and supporting local resident associations in their volunteer activities.
