Let's Talk About Parking Public Meeting Results

On June 17th at St. Jude's Church Hall there was a public meeting to discuss the prospect of a temporary parking initiative in the Downtown and Kerr Village commercial areas.

Kerr Village BIA Executive Director, Doug Sams (left), sits beside BIA Board members Janis Smith and Terry Hutchison at the public meeting to discuss the temporary free parking initiative.

At the May 26, 2014 meeting, Oakville Town Council received a report from Town of Oakville staff on the subject of a temporary free parking program for the Downtown and Kerr Village commercial areas. Before Council considered any type of temporary free parking program they wanted to hear from the residents and merchants of Oakville.

Those who attended the public meeting were broken down into smaller discussion groups to brainstorm pros and cons, as well as possible alternatives to, a temporary free parking program. The full report will be released July 4, 2014.

Council will consider the ideas brought forth at this meeting and the temporary free parking initiative will be addressed at the Council meeting on July 21st.
